VI. SAR in the city excursion: Hands on Exploratorium at The Parthenon in NYC

We are thrilled to announce that this private, full immersion event will be held at one of the most well-known and beautiful professional dungeons in NYC. Our excursion will be for our use only and will not be open to the public.

Bo Blaze, Alternative Life Coach and author of the book 50 Shades of Curious: BDSM for Beginners, will be your guide. Bo and his various handpicked BDSM educators and real-life players will be on hand to teach, perform, and even participate with if you wish!

You will learn various “101 techniques” with floggers, whips, rope, canes, paddles, and other BDSM “toys”. Basic safety tips including, “where to and where not to hit” and all the Q & A you can think of will be addressed. This will be the hands-on portion of the SAR experience where you’ll see what a real working dungeon looks like, watch lifestyle players engage in BDSM scenes, and best of all, you can try out any piece of equipment or activity you wish in a safe, controlled, atmosphere. Participation is strictly up to each individual and absolutely not mandatory. This will be a fun, educational atmosphere but will also provide you the chance to watch some very real and intense scenes as well. You can see more info on the facility by visiting http://www.parthenonnyc.com/about-us.html

I. Non-Traditional Sexual Partnering

Exposure to more complex sexual relationships which fall outside of the common monogamy-based, couples structure. This topic encompasses all sexual orientations and atrations. Participants will not only be exposed to many of the practices, but they will gain an understanding of what attracts some people to alternative partnering.

II. Senior Sex

Focus on the realities of sex over 50. We live in a society that ignores sex for older adults, assuming it is an aberration and our images of it exist only on the margins of society. This is reflected in the media as well as in the medical profession. However, 35% of our population will be over 50 by 2020 and this group’s interest and desire to remain sexually active is growing as a result of increasing life spans and successful medicine.

III. Physically/Mentally Disabled Sex

Physically and mentally disabled individuals are often marginalized and their sexual identity ignored. This session will focus on sex with and among the physically and mentally disabled.

IV. Sex Workers

This session will introduce participants to the spectrum of individuals who work in the sex industry and allow them to focus on their own and society’s preconceived notions and judgments about this type of work.

An introduction to BDSM and the enormous variety of practices which fall under this umbrella term. Students will not only be exposed to many of the practices, but they will gain an understanding of what attracts some people to BDSM by talking to BDSM practitioners and professionals. Understanding the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of BDSM is key to understanding the activities.

VI. Fetishes

An introduction to the complex world of fetishes and paraphilia. Often accompanied by a sense of shame and shrouded in secrecy, fetishes can be harmless turn-ons or can cause great distress to fetishist and partner alike.

VII. Wrap-Up

This session will focus on personal reflection. During this hour-long wrap-up participants will have the opportunity to summarize their reactions, both expected and unexpected to the material they saw and discussed. They will explore changes they may have noticed in their awareness and attitudes and share how they feel this might impact on their work.

To complete this course and receive CEC, the registrants will be required to attend all daytime courses as described in agenda and complete all evaluation forms provided at the end of the course.
